Greens Raise More Questions about Go Ape Proposals
Feb 06, 2009
Green councillors in Glasgow are demanding a full investigation of the amended proposals for the controversial Go Ape development planned for Pollok Park.
The Greens are lodging an encyclopedia of official questions to try and uncover the truth of the situation. They claim that it would also be essential to have the land's legal status tested in court, as it is a Common Good Fund Asset which might require a special order to enable it to be used or leased.
Danny Alderslowe, the Green councillor for Southside Central said: "The changes to the planning application are so many that it is a totally new proposal and should be a new application. Go Ape have twisted and turned almost everything previously claimed to be essential and unchangeable. Council officials should also be called to account."
Notes for editors
The Audit Scotland report says on page 6 says the following:
During the year, as a result of correspondence from the public, Pollok Park has been re-classified as a common good asset, at a nominal value of £1. There is a risk that there are other such assets which are in the Council's balance sheet which should be held within the common good.
